Celia Adelaide Carter, homemaker

Celia Adelaide Carter, 86, of Delaplane, died Sept. 26 at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 4, 1922, the last of nine children born to Edgar and Adelaide Lewis.

She received her education at the Fauquier County public school then located in Ashville.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her son, Wendell L. Carter of Delaplane; and two brothers, James Lewis of Ashville and Wallace Lewis of New York, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Oct. 2, at First Ashville Baptist church, 4218 Ashville Road, Marshall, where family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until services begin. The Rev. William Swann will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Morris Community Cemetery, Hume.
