Annie Smoot Foster

Annie Smoot Foster, nurse's aide

Annie Smoot Foster, 94, of Warrenton, died Sept. 29 at Fauquier Hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Rappahannock County to the late Thomas and Edna French Smoot.

For many years, Mrs. Foster was employed as a nurse's aide at the former District Nursing Home in Warrenton until its closing. She was an original resident of Warrenton Manor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle J. Foster, and three children, Bessie Sanford, Elizabeth Morris and Ronald Lee Foster.

Survivors include three sons, David Lee Foster of Warrenton, Lyle J. Foster Jr. of Manassas and Charles Foster of Chesterfield Township, Mich.; one daughter, Ann Foster of Massachusetts; 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Three brothers also survive: Bernard Smoot of Mississippi, Arthur Smoot of Flint Hill and Clabert Smoot of Washington, Va.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Washington Masonic Cemetery, Washington, Va., by the Rev. C.W. Trenum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Warrenton Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co., 167 W. Shirley Ave., Warrenton VA 20186.
