Alease Virginia Butler

Alease Virginia Butler, caregiver

Alease Virginia Butler, 74, of Midland, died July 19 at Fauquier Hospital. She was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Warrenton to the late Dan and Mable Smith.

She grew up in the Warrenton settlement known as Frytown and attended school in Fauquier County. Early in her adult life, she left Warrenton to pursue nursing school and work in Washington, D.C. She returned to Midland in the early 1970s, and in 1973, she opened her home to young people and senior adults as a professional care provider.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles Stanley Butler.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Tapscott of Warrenton and Catherine Chatman of Manassas; two sons, Dr. Decker H. Tapscott Sr. and Cameron Tapscott, both of Warrenton; 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Ethel Sanker of Midland, and a brother, Almus Smith of Warrenton.

The family will receive friends at Faith Christian Church, 6472 Duhollow Road, Warrenton, from 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, until the funeral service begins at noon. Pastor Ricardo White will officiate. Interment will be at Bright View Cemetery, Warrenton.
