Marshall This Week: Festival, yard/bake sale Oct. 4

Last Friday, the weekend started off with a bang. The Marshall Ruritans had their monthly dance with the best attendance so far. The building was filled with people of the community, and fun was had by all.

The next dance will be a Halloween theme, and everyone is encouraged to dress up for the chance to win prizes.

The Marshall United Methodist Preschool will be having its annual Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 4.

The festival will include games, a bake sale, cake walks, silent auction, door prizes, and food. Please mark your calendars to join them this weekend and support your hometown preschool. The event will be held rain or shine.

Also this weekend, Grace Bible Church is having a yard and bake sale 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 4, with 25 percent of all funds being donated to the church's benevolence fund.

Join the members of GBC at 4387 Free State Road in Marshall. If you have any questions, you can reach them at (540) 364-3832 or visit www.gbcmarshall.org.

A few calendar reminders for this month:

Oct. 11: Marshall Volunteer Fire Department's Open House and Fire Prevention Day. Join them for food, games, demonstrations and much more.

Oct. 17: Marshall Ruritan Halloween Dance, 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be prizes for costumes.

Oct. 26: MVFD's All You Can Eat Country Breakfast, 8-11 a.m.; 4160 Rectortown Road. Questions, call (540) 364-2047

Birthday wishes this week are for Sean Confer, Reba Jones, Makayla Glascock Simpson and Jason Marple.

A special 40th birthday wishes to Eva Foster from your brother, Richard Surface.

And a special note: Colin Shults would like to wish his dad, Eddie Payne, best of luck next time and encourage him to keep his chin up.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
