Remington This Week: Enjoy eating at local churches

Spaghetti dinner will he served at St. Luke's Parish Hall, 400 Church St., Remington, from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. Also, raffle tickets will be sold for country ham, $100 cash and a gift card, according to Maria Markley and Velma Merica.

A barbecue chicken dinner, and live and silent auctions will be held by Remington United Methodist Church to benefit their church renovation and local missions.

Also, the Chesham Creek Bluegrass Band will perform. All this on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Remington Lions Club building on U.S. 29 near the intersection of Route 28 in Remington.

The dinner and silent auction are from 4-7 p.m. Band music will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and the live auction from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door and $10 beforehand, according to Peggy Simmons and Pastor Charles Stacy.

Liberty Community Church volunteers surprised local downtown Main Street Remington merchants with free bag lunches on Oct. 25. Participating church volunteers were Terri, "Busty" and Tim Saliba, Frank and Rebekah Campbell, and Holly Cirpiraino.

Liberty Community Church, 11775 Morgansburg Road, Bealeton, will have a night of worship on Sunday, Nov. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, phone (540) 439-0500 or go to www.lccbealeton.com.

"Trunk or Treat" will be held at Remington Baptist Church, 203 East Marshall St., Remington, from 6-7:30 p.m. Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31. All are welcome to bring children to see if the church trunks hold "tricks" or "treats," according to Toni Russo.

Come enjoy a cup of cider and see The Praising Puppets perform. Also, Remington Baptist Church, as part of October's being "Pastor Appreciation Month," honored pastor John Farrar and his wife Julia with a luncheon and gift certificate for their favorite restaurant, according to Ben Haught Sr.

Remington Volunteer Fire & Rescue is having its annual Halloween fund drive with a "Haunted House" across from Andes Market on South James Madison St., Remington, from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 30-31 and Nov. 1, according to Ben Haught Sr.

The Southern Fauquier Business Owners Association is preparing for its annual Bealeton Christmas Parade at noon Saturday, Dec. 13. Trophies will be awarded at the conclusion of the parade at the Bealeton Library.
