The Plains This Week: 'Arsenic and Old Lace' appearing
The talented students of Wakefield are performing "Arsenic and Old Lace" in the Lower Gym at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. Tickets to the performance are $5 each.
As an added attraction, Wakefield School is teaming with Forlano's Market for dinner and a show. They are producing a three-course fixed menu for dinner. For more information on the dinner pricing and seating time, contact Wakefield School at (540) 253-7540. Wakefield School is located at 4439 Old Tavern Road (Route 245) in The Plains.
Debbie Brown would like to thank the people of The Plains for all their kindness during her recent illness. The cards, letters cards and inquiries from townsfolk made her recovery faster, and she appreciates the support.
Brown is back at her post, dispensing mail and the occasional dog treat at the most popular meeting place in town.
Our post office is special, not because it is located in a little wooden house, but because visiting there seems like dropping in on family. You always meet friends and hear the latest news when The Plains post office is on your rounds.
Reservations are now being accepted for a seasonal tea special at Crest Hill Antiques & Tea Room on Main Street. The "Harvest & Holiday Tea" runs from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. Call (540) 253-5790 for reservations or information.
Halloween trick-or-treaters will be plying our sidewalks on Friday, Oct. 31. This time-honored tradition brings costumed children in close proximity to our streets, so all residents of The Plains are urged to be especially alert for goblins, witches, fairy princesses, astronauts, Power Rangers and pirates that may be perambulating about The Plains on Friday night.
The little ghouls do not stand a ghost of a chance if the adults put speed over safety when driving. The speed limit is 25 mph, and that is the maximum speed limit in town. That is not the speed limit only while attempting to parallel park.
Little Graces at Grace Church is holding a holiday craft bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, on the Main Street church grounds. There will be over 15 unique crafters and vendors participating.
This is a great way to get started with finding that special Christmas gift and help support one of the happiest groups of little angels on earth.
Happy birthday greetings go out to Joyce Pearson on Oct. 31 and Christopher Koglin on Nov. 1.
