Heritage Presbyterian Church
Heritage Presbyterian Church is located at 7850 Millfield Drive in Warrenton, off Academy Hill Extended, and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America.
Established in 1985 as a "daughter church" of the Gainesville Presbyterian Church, the congregation has been at its current location since 1990. The interior of the building was completely remodeled in 2006, along with significant improvements to the parking lot and roadway.
Senior Pastor Steve Hohenberger came to HPC in March 1997. A graduate of Westminster Seminary, he served churches in New Jersey and Northern Virginia before accepting a call to this congregation.
Associate Pastor Larry Yeager joined the staff in 2003, having worked in youth ministry for many years. He led a congregation in Maryland.
Associate Pastor Rob Amsler has been called to work among Hispanics in Fauquier and Prince William counties in a church-planting effort, as the church recognizes and tries to address the changing demographics of our community.
Regular Sunday services include morning worship at 9:30 a.m., Sunday school at 11:30 a.m. and an evening service at 6 p.m. (except for the first Sunday of the month).
The ministry of Heritage Presbyterian is Christ-centered and built on a commitment to the Scriptures as the only infallible rule of faith and life. The worship service is in the Reformed tradition, but with elements that tie us to the church through the ages, as well as hymns, songs and preaching that speaks to the age in which we live. There is a constant effort to worship in a manner that blends traditional and contemporary elements.
There is a threefold aim for the involvement of members. The first is active, joyful participation in the rich worship of the living God. Second is the active pursuit of deeper fellowship in relationships with those who challenge and encourage one another. Finally, they encourage active service on a consistent basis, using the gifts God has given for ministry to the body, and for ministry and witness to a needy world.
The church leads services at both Warrenton Overlook (once a month) and Oak Springs (twice monthly) nursing homes, regularly visits and provides meals at the homeless shelter, and has an active ministry of mercy that has touched many in the community.
There are numerous gatherings in small groups during the week for Bible studies, fellowship and prayer.
