Markham This Week: Bazaar Saturday at armory
B-r-r-r-r. The furnace is on, and last night was a three-cat night. From large to small and delicate, three spoiled kitties vied for the warmest spots on the bed and under the covers. The other two chose radiator beds.
Birthday greetings this week to Howard Walbridge, Sue Hinkel, Ann Stribling, Constance Ford and Katie Pearson. Enjoy and fly high with your friends and families.
Henry Baxley was recently honored by the congregation of Leeds Episcopal Church for 26 years of service as treasurer. He followed his father, Henry Baxley Sr., who also served in that capacity for many years.
Just because Henry has retired from one position does not mean that he has retired from the theater. He is active in the Fauquier Community Theater and was delightful while performing in the funny and sometimes risque "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."
The Orlean Volunteer Fire Department will have the annual fall ham and oyster dinner 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Ladies in the community will soon be receiving calls for donations of desserts and salads. The generous gifts of these goodies always helps to make this dinner a special treat for those who attend. Please support your local volunteers who are here for this community every single day of the year.
Bazaar and Christmas sale time. The Wesley Chapel United Methodist Women will have their 35th annual sale at the Warrenton Armory 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Plan to attend for a great day with plenty of food, gift items, white elephant items and much more.
The Leeds Parish Craft Group annual St. Nicholas Day Sale will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Leeds Church Parish Hall, Markham. This sale will present a variety of arts and crafts items for Christmas giving. The money raised goes to support a large number of outreach projects.
