Goldvein This Week: Monroe Park anniversary Oct. 25

Join me in sending birthday wishes out this week to Ron Roach on Oct. 15, Britney Beach on Oct. 16, Amy Cutsail and Jimmie Lou Bell (the corndog queen) on Oct. 17, Katlyn Carroll on Oct. 19 and June Riley on Oct. 20. Many happy returns to you all.

Fall brings a lot of activities, and I will try to squeeze them all in.

Monroe Park will celebrate its 10th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. The public is invited to come out and enjoy the park on this special day. There will special activities for everyone. For more information, call Bob at (540) 752-5330.

Mary Walter Elementary School will hold its PTO Fall Festival from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. There will be games, turtle races, vendors (tables are available to rent for $20), a chili cookoff and much more. This is a fun, family event. Admission is $3 per person or $15 per family. Children 3 and under are free.

The Sumerduck Ruritan Club will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. All the fried ocean perch and trimmings you can eat for a great price. Come on out and support the Ruritans; they help our community in so many ways. For more details, call Jay at (540) 439-8225.

Mount Carmel Baptist Church will be having a revival Oct. 26-29. Evangelist Steve Freeman, who also writes and sings music, will be the guest speaker. Services will be held on at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Special music and nursery will be available for each service. Call the church at (540) 788-9924 for more information.

Have a wonderful week.
