Sunday concert to benefit Remington woman
Remington resident Teri Thacker has had a turbulent ride these last few months. After being diagnosed with stage four, non-small cell lung cancer in October, the veteran flight attendant has been fighting the disease with chemotherapy and lots of love from her family and friends.
This weekend, she'll soak up more support along with some great bluegrass music at a benefit concert to be held her in honor. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 20 at the Remington Lions Club, with music to begin at noon. The event will feature an impressive lineup of pickers with all proceeds going to Thacker and her husband Wes.
While Thacker's treatments are covered by insurance, eight rounds of chemotherapy have left her unable to work.
“We're a two-income family. My husband is self-employed as a plumber and with that it seems like it's either feast or famine. I was the steady income,” she said this week, explaining that she used all of her sick leave after a pair of accidents in 2004 and 2005. “Now, I'm off work without pay.”
