Good News - Uniting Our Community
It seems like whenever we open the newspaper or listen to the news on television and the radio we hear bad news. The economy, a contentious election, people having difficulty scraping by are problems that dominate our attention and divide our community.
The good news is that THERE IS GOOD NEWS. The annual Piedmont United Way campaign is underway and the United Way is something that can unite our community in advancing the common good. People needing help to cope with difficulties can get help – because of the United Way.
The Piedmont United Way campaign supports over forty human service organizations and programs in our five-county (Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock) region. The United Way campaign supports our Boys and Girls Clubs, our Free Clinics, and our Literacy Councils, as well as our emergency shelters, our programs for senior citizens, and programs that protect families and kids from neglect and abuse.
As a volunteer with the Piedmont United Way, I see the value that the United Way adds to our community. United Way Community Partner Agencies support and empower families, help children and youth succeed, provide health care and wellness, provide adult literacy and job skills and meet basic human needs. United Way connects people in need with the help that they need.
In a time where there are so many things that can divide our community, I want to ask all of the people of our community to unite behind a cause and a program that unites our community. Please support the Piedmont United Way campaign by volunteering and giving. Your support of the United Way is a vital investment in a caring community – OUR COMMUNITY.
