Highlight of our Family Beach Vacation

Well, my husband Peter and I recently returned from vacationing at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, and our 17 month old daughter Renée was in toddler vacationing heaven.  She’d lie back in her stroller just as content as can be as her Dad pushed her up and down the boardwalk over four sunny days.  The weather was beautiful the whole time we were there, and she got to indulge in grilled cheese sandwiches, French fries, and ice-cream.  “Mmmm, good!” she’d comment while eating.

There was a Fun Park with carnival rides and games.  She rode on the carousel with Dad, and later the train, the airplane, the fire truck, the little Ferris Wheel with me, and my husband and I discovered she was a true thrill seeker and very adventurous when we finally decided to put her on the faster and higher rides.  Only then did we see her “I’m not bored anymore” look of excitement on her adorable face.  I indulged on a ride myself, and returned to see that my husband had won her a large stuffed Crayola crayon and a yellow duck.  Soon, he had me competing with him for prizes, which I successfully won a few times.  My husband was very happy with the choice he had made of where we should vacation, and obviously, so were both Renée and I.

The highlight of our vacation was when my husband and I watched our sweet baby girl approach a female singer belting out oldies songs in the shops’ deserted courtyard.  She danced, clapped and tried to sing to every song, and excitedly waited for the next song by swinging her arms back and forth and clapping her hands.  People gathered around and employees came out of their shops to see our charming little princess shake, rattle and roll, literally.  Two little girls had joined her and they were imitating each other’s dance moves, and soon rolling around on the ground.  By the time we were ready to leave, the courtyard was bustling, and after Renée assisted her Dad in dropping a tip in the lady’s glass jar, I turned back to see all the joyous smiles she had put on those people’s faces.  Oh, to be young again!

I think we have found our…her…favorite vacation spot at Rehoboth Beach!
